Brazilian website Globoesporte claim to have discovered discarded tactical plans used by Chelsea during the Club World Cup, where they lost 1-0 to Corinthians in the final, after going through bins in the Champions League holders' dressing room on Sunday.
The rescued crumpled up bits of paper, the publication say, show details of how Chelsea were to approach both attacking and defensive corners, who was to mark who when defending and how to signal what type of corner the taker was about to send over.
Along with photos of Chelsea players and the names of their opponents, the instructions also include directions to 'immediately up after we clear the ball, 'be aware of counter attack,' and, for Chelsea's left-back, 'Ashley out to stop short corner.'
"Among sandwiches, energy drinks and broken sports equipment, the British left in the dressing room simple notes about and detailed explanations of what each player should do at set pieces," Globoesporte report.
If nothing else, the fact that Fernando Torres has a prime role in defending at set pieces suggests his work on the training ground that so pleased Rafa Benitez must still be going well.
