The pastry chefs at Blue Bottle Coffee Bar at the San Francisco Museum of Art say it's the art around them that inspired a range of dishes that look like, well, art.
Caitlin Freeman and her team have created a menu that includes dishes that look like famous pantings, including works by Mark Rothko, Nelson Judd and Damien Hirst. Freeman is also the author of Modern Art Desserts, a cookbook that's set to hit shelves on April 16.
Check out Freeman's work in the gallery below, and scroll down further for a video featuring another creation -- a Mondrian cake.

We're inclined to agree.

A side-by-side comparison with the original. The recreation is made with toast smeared with apricot butter and wild blueberry jam.
Donald Judd's "Untitled"
This rendition of a 1962 untitled painting by Donald Judd is made with tomato soup and a saffron cracker.

Damien Hirst's "Amylamine"
We're digging this version of Damien Hirst's 1993 work -- a lemon velvet cake with white chocolate ganache, cream cheese frosting and edible confetti.

Josef Albers' "Homage to the Square: Confident"
A cheese and cracker version of Josef Albers's 1954 paiting "Homage to the Square: Confident"? Yes, please. Here, buttermilk crackers are topped with cheddar cheese, a Parmesan-cream wafer and goat gouda.
